Spine Concept Evo - how to chose your saddle
In order to select your perfect saddle you need to be introduced to the Spine Concept Evo. This fit suggestion system is the next step from the original spine concept you may have previously been familiar with. You can download the app for android and IOS systems which will guide you through the process of finding the right saddle for you.
Comfort from your saddle comes from having the right fit by looking at the overall shape of the saddle. The spine concept evo is a 2 stage process focussed around your spinal flexibility, body weight on the saddle and power output.
1. Spine flexibility and pelvic rotation are inextricably linked to saddle comfort - how flexible your spine is determines which saddle shape fits you.
Arione / Snake - a flat saddle, suits flexible riders whom tend to ride with their pelvis in a neutral position and be very active along the length of the saddle. If on other saddles you have been finding yourself feeling restricted and trying to constantly adjust back along the saddle length maybe you should try Arione.
Antares / Chameleon - a slight curve towards the rear of the saddle, slightly wider than the arione. Provides some pelvic rotation support whilst still allowing some movement of the rider on the saddle.
Aliante / Bull - a more signicant waved shape in this saddle provides support for the pelvis whilst in a rotated position. This can happen as a result of reduced spinal flexibility meaning the rider's pelvis must rotate on the saddle in order to reach forward into the riding position. If on other saddles you have felt pressure points on your sit bones, perhaps you have not had enough support at the rear of the saddle.
2. Power and weight through the saddle
Once you have found your shape then the app can help you select the right width for you. It looks at your power output and weight to determine how much weight is being applied to the saddle vs the pedals and will then recommend the correct width for you.
